Be Brave - Let go

The challenge with letting go lies in the fact it requires that you step into the unknown.

Stepping into the new phase of anything requires letting go of the old phase and of your familiar ways of functioning in that phase. Like the snake shedding its skin, you need to release what you no longer need so you have room to grow and to move forward into the next level of being.

Sometimes you want something new in your life, yet you do not want to release what is familiar, easy, and safe. With any transformational process, you must learn to let go of what you currently have and the stage in which you currently exist if you want to move to the next level.

Letting go can feel scary, however, which explains why you may feel you want to know with certainty what is coming next and how it is going to fully play out before you let go of what is known - the unknown can seem frightening or uncomfortable.

Fire initiates growth and growth brings with it the need to let go of your old ways of life and leadership. Fire releases the previous form by reducing it to ashes. The ash becomes the soil for new growth.

Fire takes the form down to the basest level—destruction — before the rebuilding process can begin. Often after releasing the old, you experience a period of not knowing before the new is born from the ashes. Honoring the transformational phase of a process requires trust and letting go is just the first stage.

Today, ask yourself what you need to let go of in order to move to the next level of your leadership.
